Frequently Asked Questions

are you kosher?

as of june 23rd, 2026 we are proud to announce that we are kosher certified by the vaad of seattle! check it out!

are you open on Shabbat?

Aviv is kosher and indeed open on Saturday. The owners have a Shabbat lease overseen by the Vaad of Seattle. A Shabbat lease is a legal framework that temporarily shifts control of a Jewish owned business to a non-Jew for Shabbat. No Jewish owners or employees are working during Shabbat. This allows the business to stay open without violating the religious prohibition against a Jew working or hiring someone to work on Shabbat.

are you vegan friendly?

definitely. we have ZERO dairy or meat in house and everything is vegan except for: the amba aioli (mayo) served with cheeps (ask for tahina instead), the hatzil-mayonez salat (mayo), and sabich pita or shakshuka (but we can make these without the egg).

is your falafel gluten free?

no, there is a tiny bit of flour in there.

do you do catering?

at this time we don’t do banquets where it is expected that we would set up a large table or booth (though this may be in the future), but we can supply large orders for pick up in our 32oz containers, or even large foil pans for you to set up how you wish. It’s best to email david@avivhummusbar.com about these large orders.
